Fast-growing Latino Chain Continues Expansion across Arizona 12/27/04 Phoenix, AZ - December, 27, 2004 - Pizza Patrón, the premier Latino pizza brand, opened Arizona's fifth location in Phoenix on Monday, Dec. 6. The store, located at 1640 N. 36th St., is the second of five that are currently under construction in Phoenix by Grupo Pizza De Arizona, LLC., formed by Lee M. Cohn and Lalo Gonzales. They are in agreement with Pizza Patron to open a total of 25 units in Arizona. "The 36th St. location is in a very busy shopping area that is popular with the Hispanic community, said Gonzales, market manager of Grupo Pizza De Arizona. This put us in a prime position to work with a large sector of the population, which is very exciting. At the intersection of 36th St. and McDowell, the store is open from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, 4:00 to midnight on Fridays, 12:00 p.m. to midnight Saturdays, and 12:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Sundays. Since franchising began in March 2003, the brand has gone from four locations to 117, either open or under development.
Pizza Patrón features festive and fun carryout-only pizza stores that are community based in Spanish speaking or predominately Hispanic neighborhoods. The menu is value oriented, offering high quality, freshly prepared pizzas at very low price points. All pizza dough is made fresh throughout the evening; no preservatives are added or needed. The sauce is prepared fresh in the stores, as well, from crushed Roma tomatoes. Only 100% mozzarella is used. Whole and half pizzas are offered at prices as low as $4.99 for a large pizza with cheese and one topping and $3.49 for the same half pizza. A large "La Patrona" pizza with everything is only $6.99.
