Thousands Celebrate 'El Grito' in Dallas! 09/15/06 Dallas, TX - September, 15, 2006 - Thousands of spectators gathered Friday afternoon at the Dallas Mexican Consulate for the celebration of the 196th Mexico's Independence Day. The celebration took place for the second consecutive year at the offices of the Dallas Mexican Consulate. Starting at 5pm, the festivities continued until 10pm. The Consul Enrique Hubbard gave the official grito 'Viva Mexico' at 10pm precisely. An estimate of 10,000 people came out to enjoy the live entertainment, food, and freebies given out by a host of 32 vendors. Entertainment included Mariachis, folklorists' dancers, the show of 'Bely y Beto', and much more which had the crowd applauding through out the afternoon and night. This is a celebration where Mexican Immigrants can remember their traditions and have present their nationality and all of the good things that come with being a 'mexicano,' said one attendee. A proud sponsor of the event, Pizza Patrón was very active in the festivities. Branded vehicles, a 20' inflatable icon, branded tents, banners and signs were on display to promote brand awareness. The Patrón tent and prize wheel were a popular attraction throughout the evening giving visitors the opportunity to win free pizzas, branded t-shirts and caps. Pizza Patrón also offered hot, fresh pizza to visitors and dignitaries and quickly became a crowd favorite.
