Pizza Patrón Opens New Store In Plano, Texas

12/26/03

PLANO - December, 26, 2003
- Pizza Patrón, the premier Latino pizza brand, has opened its first location in Plano, eighth for the Dallas/Fort Worth area. The store, located in the Park Mall Shopping Center at 2496 Ave. K, is owned by PML Restaurants I, LP, a company formed by Maurice Purnell and Brian Mitts. The store is the second of five that the partnership will open says Purnell.

"We opened our first location in early December at Walnut and Jupiter," said Purnell. "It's doing great, and this store is already picking up speed. We really look forward to introducing this concept to Plano."

PML's third location is currently under construction at Spring Valley and Coit and is due to open March 1.

Pizza Patrón was founded by Antonio Swad in 1986. In March 2003, he opened the new Pizza Patrón corporate office to begin offering franchises. Since, the brand has grown from four locations to 92, either open or under development.

Pizza Patrón features festive and fun carryout-only pizza stores that are community based in Spanish speaking or predominately Hispanic neighborhoods. The units are open from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays and 4:00 to midnight Fridays and Saturdays.

The menu is value oriented, offering high quality, freshly prepared pizzas at very low price points. All pizza dough is made fresh throughout the evening; no preservatives are added or needed. The sauce is prepared fresh in the stores, as well, from crushed Roma tomatoes. Only 100% mozzarella is used. Whole and half pizzas are offered at prices as low as $4.99 for a large pizza with cheese and one topping and $3.49 for the same half pizza. A large deluxe pizza with everything is only $6.99.
